Hi Folks,
This is idea day ;).
Dropping by plone.org, there's an announcement today of PloneFormGen 1.0 B5 : http://plone.org/products/ploneformgen
>From the page : " This product provides a generic Plone form generator using fields, widgets and validators from Archetypes. It makes it possible to build simple contact, information-gathering or data-entry forms through Plone's interface ... form input is handled via plug in action products. Action adapters included with this release include a mailer and a save data adapter that saves input in tab-separated format for later download ... "
Another " Plone needs a general-purpose form generator that may be used for mail forms, RDBMS database interactions ..."
That could be a quick and dirty way of writing to postGIS from a Plone site. I don't know if PloneFormGen could handle things like ZODB Catalog indexing but at any rate it can probably serve the purpose of building a data-entry site à la RoR easily from Plone. And of course, be used with postGIS !
