[Community] Installing PrimaGIS

Vaishal,
Ever since Kai came out with his ridiculously handy buildkit installer
for PrimaGIS, I've stuck w/Linux for all my PrimaGIS stuff. And, as
such, I gave up compiling PCL for Win32. Never used Linux? No problem
- it's easier than they make it out to be. Try it! Of course maybe you
have no choice. Moving on...
I could be very wrong about this, but I _think_ there are currently no
win32 binaries available for the latest PCL.
That said, I do have some binaries for use w/Python 2.4 - but I compiled
them last August. Thus, they may not work w/the latest PrimaGIS .6
trunk - and unfortunately I am too busy this morning to think hard about
it :)
I've put up everything you need to get last August's iteration of
PrimaGIS/ZCO/PCL online at http://eactive.org - but this stuff was
tested on Plone 2.1, so I have no idea if there will be issues w/Plone
2.5.
You could try updating PCL and seeing if it works with the current GDAL
and other DLL's in there, but I am guessing it won't (I think the new
PCL is compiled w/Mapserver 4.10.0 [which requires Visual Studio 7],
whereas this version was MS 4.8.x, no?)
Anyway, this may, potentially, get you running with an older
PCL/PrimaGIS version on Plone 2.5. I think our best (or easiest) bet
for the latest stuff on win32 is to bribe Hobu to include PCL in his MS
buildkit.
Cheers,
-Josh
