[Community] Proxies and WebxServices.

I am try to use:
wms = WebMapService( ...
or wfs = WebFeatureService( ...

but I am unable to get past our proxy, as it needs authentication (error
407).
is there a way to get a username and password supplied to both the proxy and
the wxs service that I wish to access? (https)

P.S. I am using windows XP & Python 2.6
